On the Saturday following the talk with Mo and Kyla, we’re hosting an in-venue screening of Mo Ali’s Breathe, followed by an interactive talk with Mo and his DOP Tim Spicer on giving and receiving notes.
Breathe is a three-part exploration of the healing, grieving, love, and mental health of black people during COVID in the UK. Watch the film on the big screen, then listen to an interactive conversation with Mo and Tim, who worked together on Breathe as well as a number of other projects. The pair will talk about how they collaborate and complement each other’s skills, while giving and receiving constructive feedback on the project they’re making together. You’ll hear tips on being clear in your communication, not taking things personally, and strategically implementing the notes to improve your work. You’ll have the chance to ask Mo and Tim questions, then join us after the workshop for networking drinks (COVID-19 restrictions permitting). It’ll be the first opportunity we’ve had in ages to grab a drink in person and network with your fellow aspiring filmmakers, so come along for a celebration!
